THE FOUNDATION OBJECTIVES

ESTABLISH A CENTRAL MEMORIAL TO ALL VETERANS.

Space for such a memorial has been allocated on the cemetery grounds. A design, produced in part by a statewide college level contest, has been approved. Specifications and cost estimate is in work.

PROVIDE SECURITY FENCING

The VA has no plans to replace the existing aged barbwire fence. The Foundation proposes to encircle the perimeter with decorative wrought iron security fencing. Underwriters for all or a portion of the fence are sought. Estimated Phase I cost is $185,000.

PROPERLY OBSERVE MEMORIAL DAY AND OTHER SPECIAL EVENTS.

Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day will be observed in a way to not interfere with such observations at local private cemeteries. We seek sponsors and the estimated annual cost is less than $3,000 for all four events. Local CSO.s are invited to help with sponsorship.

SUSTAIN THE AVENUE OF FLAGS.
The Foundation has obtained sponsorship of 185 flag poles for which flags (casket size) may be donated by next of kin or others. In lieu of flags, donations of $80 are accepted. Flags should be sent to the Cemetery Director and donations should be sent to this Foundation. There are no current plans to enlarge the avenue of flags.

ESTABLISH A PUBLIC OVERLOOK.
Across Spur 408 is a VA owned parcel of land not suitable for grave sites. The area provides a picturesque overview of much of the cemetery acreage. The Foundation long range objective is to attract commercial development of an overlook structure of some sort, perhaps including a restaurant. No dollar estimate is available.
