MILITARY FUNERAL HONORS

If requested by the next of kin, military funeral honors are available as follows, at no charge:

  • For retired and active duty personnel:

    • Rifle salute, casket bearers, folding and presenting the flag and Taps.

  • For veterans who are not retired:

    • Folding and presenting the flag.

Funeral Directors may make arrangements for the above honors which are provided by personnel from the NAS-FW-JRB.

However, the same honors as shown above for retired and active duty personnel are also available to veterans who are not retired. These honors are provided by local veteran service organizations. Funeral Directors or next of kin may make these no charge arrangements by calling:

  • 972-524-2022 - This is the DFW Honor Guard which is an outgrowth of the Texas National Cemetery Foundation.

  • 972-709-4255 or 972-423-5423 - This is American Legion Post 321 in Plano, Texas.

  • 469-628-8057 - This is the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Lone Star Chapter

The desire to provide full honors for all veterans has special note: The current military mobilization has resulted in more honors being performed by veteran service organizations (VSO's). Such organizations are encouraged to form honor guards and individual veterans are also encouraged to affiliate with one of the above.

VSO's do not charge for their services;  but they do accept donations or upkeep of uniforms and transportation.

The DFW National Cemetery Director can be reached by calling 214-467-3374.
